Fantastic, Stan. So glad to have been introduced to you by Angela. JAT (Japan Association of Translators), of which I am a member, has volunteer interpreters & translators available to work in several language pairings to assist NGOs and rescue teams with on-site, phone, teleconferencing, etc, interpretation and translation for rescue and rebuilding efforts. Clearly, there are pressing, on-site needs as well as follow-up and/or served equally as well from remote locations needs. There are several issues: funding to get on-site, infrastructure to maintain a hub, tech support, and so on. JAT's volunteer page is: http://jat.org/2011/03/14/volunteer-interpreters-for-earthquake-aftermath Further, many outside of affected areas would also like to donate needed items and later on, go to Tohoku to assist in rebuilding. There is a lot to work on, but I hope we can take some initial big steps.
