Empowering Impoverished Communities | Sheela Patel, Director of SPARC | Hub Culture Davos 2022 1238 views
“We have learnt from our own experience, that if we don’t make ourselves known, make our voices heard, tell everybody what we want to do, we will continue for another seven generations to be ignored and marginalized”
Sheela Patel is a veteran of urban development and poverty relief, having worked in underserved communities since 1974. Sheela is particularly passionate about catering those living in ‘informal housing’. Outside of the regulatory system, they hold immense productive potential, but often lack access to basic services and legal rights.
